CATHOLIC TELEVISION - AFRICA

Originating from Metanoia Studio and Catholic Sudio in South Africa a Catholic African Television is slowly being born. The access to satellite channel is being negotiated, and soon the Catholics of Southern Africa, and later hopefully all of Africa, will be able to watch a Catholic program. It is a long overdue and a must development in the context of the modern media flood of sectarian origin and of other religions, broadcasting more and more channels.
The main studio is in Cape Town in South Africa. The EWTN from the USA agreed to rebroadcast their program for Africa.
Fr. Mareko (Lefoko Productions) is on the board of the producers and contributors. A series of catechetical films are in planning stage (especially on Sacraments), there are some ideas to produce materials on nature - creation, and perhaps desert spirituality.
Funds for proper equipment is a major problem, since the whole television production requires today a switch to High Definition - which in practical terms means new HD cameras, HD editing equipment and HD storage - still very expensive.
LEFOKO PRODUCTIONS

Lefoko Productions is part of the activities of the envisaged Lefoko Centre. The purpose is to produce our own materials relating to religion and spirituality but also culture of the people - ethnographical, ethnological, anthropological records and documentaries.
